A 15 per cent jump in new property tax payers courtesy the online payment mode, the NMMC has initiated steps to further simplify the digital payment mode leveraging advanced technology. The aim was also aimed at reducing the hassles for the residents of satellite city,
The new system enables taxpayers to pay their property tax quickly and effortlessly. The new system introduces multiple digital payment options such as net banking, UPI, QR code, and wallets, according to NMMC.
Bharat Bill Payment System, an ecosystem for bill payments developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) , which allows customers to pay bills from any bank to any biller, will be implemented within the next 10 to 12 days, the corporation said.
The integration will allow direct tax payments through all major banks, payment apps, and digital platforms, offering 24x7 payment accessibility from anywhere, the convenience of paying through any bank or app, and secure and faster transactions with NPCI approval. With the launch of BBPS, the number of online taxpayers is expected to rise by another 15-20%.
By addressing shortcomings in the previous online system, the new upgraded platform has been designed for a seamless and hassle-free experience. The BBPS integration will further improve the speed and efficiency of payments.
