In adherence to the order issued by the High Court on January 30, 2025, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) successfully facilitated the immersion of 582 Plaster of Paris (POP) Ganesh idols in 26 artificial immersion sites during the Maghi Ganesh festival.

Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, the NMMC constructed 26 artificial immersion ponds across various locations within the municipal area to provide a designated space for the immersion of Ganesh idols. A public appeal was made to citizens, urging them to immerse their idols exclusively in these artificial lakes, in line with the court's order.

Throughout the municipal area, a total of 1,275 Ganesh idols were immersed, including 582 POP idols in the artificial immersion ponds. Additionally, 34 out of 693 clay idols were also immersed in these artificial sites, while the remaining 659 clay idols were immersed in 22 natural immersion ponds.

The meticulous arrangements made by the NMMC ensured a smooth and well-organized immersion ceremony. Under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Mr. Sunil Pawar, necessary facilities were provided at all immersion sites, with Deputy Commissioners Mr. Somnath Potre and Dr. Kailas Gaikwad overseeing operations in both zones.

Furthermore, waste management was prioritized, with transport vehicles on standby to promptly collect wet and dry waste from the immersion sites, managed by Deputy Commissioner of the Solid Waste Management Department Dr. AjayGadade and Mr. Santosh Warule.
