Citizens immersed themselves in religious fervour today, May 10th as they observed Akshay Tritiya on May 10th. This auspicious day, according to the Hindu calendar, falls on the third lunar day of shukla paksha of Vaisakh month. Throughout the day, ceremonies, pujas, and other auspicious rituals were conducted across the city.

Akshya Tritiya is renowned for its significance as the birth anniversary of Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Devotees marked the occasion by visiting Lord Vishnu temples and offering prayers to Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

Every moment of this day is considered propitious, leading citizens to engage in various new ventures such as buying new property, conducting house-warming ceremonies, initiating new ventures, or making significant purchases to usher in goodwill and prosperity. Housewarming ceremonies, in particular, hold great importance and are often performed on this day to invite prosperity and good fortune into a new home.

Sayak and Prubali Chakraborty exemplified this belief by entering their new house in Deonar today, preceded by a grand Housewarming ceremony officiated by Priest Nirupam Mukherjee. "We believe in the theory of muhurtha, or auspicious moment, to begin a new journey, and Akshaya Tritiya is one such momentous occasion," said Chakraborty. "It is believed that any meaningful activity started on this day brings peace, prosperity, and goodwill."

Additionally, Chandan Yatra, another religious festival, commenced on this auspicious day at every Radha-Krishna temple. During this festival, devotees apply Chandan (sandal-paste) to the deity and offer refreshing juices to combat the summer heat.
