A sword-wielding gang attacked the office of former BJP corporator Rohit Raju Mahadik in Ambernath-East on April 5.
The attack took place around 10:45 PM at the Swanand Shopping Complex on B-cabin Road, Ambernath East.
The CCTV footage of the office revealed a group of 10 to 12 masked individuals storming the office, vandalizing property and assaulting staffer Krishna Gupta with a sword.
The attackers later fled the scene.
The Shivajinagar police has identified the primary accused as Ashutosh Karale (23) and Gani Rafique Sheikh (25).
Following a complaint from Krishna Gupta, a case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rioting, assault, and criminal intimidation.
Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Patil said the attack was the result of a long-standing dispute between Mahadik and the accused. The incident has heightened concerns over political violence and public safety in Ambernath.
“Prima facie, the attack was fueled by old enmity. We’ve formed two teams and launched a manhunt for the accused,” Patil said.
