Apang Sena of Navi Mumbai has announced a sit-in protest in front of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) headquarters on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 9:00 am. The protest is being organized to demand the allotment of business stalls to disabled individuals in the city, as promised by the NMMC.
According to the Apang Sena, the Municipal Corporation had previously announced the allocation of stalls to disabled stall holders, but these stalls have not been provided yet. Despite repeated correspondence and requests made by the Apang Sena of Navi Mumbai, no concrete action has been taken by NMMC. As a result, the organization has decided to hold this protest to highlight the issue.
The key demands of the protest include the allotment of up to 200 square feet of space to eligible disabled stall holders, based on the availability of space. Additionally, the protestors are seeking the immediate allotment of 330 approved stalls that have been pending for a long time. The protesters also plan to raise other significant issues related to the welfare of disabled persons in the city.
Apang Sena’s President, Maruti Lande, and Secretary, Mohan Chavhan, have stated that the protest aims to draw attention to the unfulfilled promises made by the NMMC and push for immediate action on the matter. The organization has called on all disabled stall holders and their supporters to join the protest and demand their rightful access to business opportunities.
