With the peak season for Alphonso mangoes set to begin in March, the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Vashi has decided to rent out vacant stalls in the fruit market to accommodate mango traders.

The temporary rentals, available from March to June, aim to ease space constraints as large quantities of mangoes arrive from Konkan, Devgad, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Karnataka.

“The initiative aims to ensure a smooth trading environment during the high-demand mango season while maximizing the use of available market space”, said a trader.

To facilitate this, APMC has initiated a tender process, inviting applications from licensed traders until February 24. The tenders will be opened on February 25 at 12:00 p.m. Spaces will be allotted to traders offering the highest bid. The Deputy Secretary of the Fruit Market has officially communicated this decision to fruit sellers through a letter.

Rental Rates for Stalls and Offices:

• Full Galwas (Warehouses): Rs. 16,500 per month + GST Rs. 2,970
• Half Galwas: Rs. 8,250 per month + GST Rs.1,485
• Office Spaces: Rs.29,503 per month + GST Rs.5,311
