The Panvel City Police apprehended Rubel Anumia Shikder (29), accused of murder in Bangladesh, from Gujarat's Ahmedabad. Shikder had evaded authorities after being released on a three-month bond by a Bangladeshi court in connection to a murder case.

Shikder's clandestine escape from Bangladesh led him to Gujarat, where he had been residing in Ahmedabad for the past year. The police's search intensified after the arrest of three Bangladeshi nationals—Aminur Rasul Sheikh (41), Ibad Amir Sheikh (29), and Mahila Kohinur Amir Sheikh (36)—who were illegally living in Panvel's MP Keshav Building in the Karanjade area on December 6.

During the interrogation of the trio, crucial information surfaced indicating Shikder's involvement in aiding their infiltration into India from Bangladesh. Acting on information, the Panvel City Police tracked Shikder's presence to Ahmedabad.

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Nitin Thackeray, the Panvel City Police, led by Assistant Police Inspector Prakash Pawar, Police Sub-Inspector Abhaysingh Shinde, Vinod Labhde, and their team, collaborated with the Isanpur Police Station in Ahmedabad to apprehend Shikder.

Following his arrest, Shikder underwent extensive interrogation facilitated by interpreters proficient in the Bengali language. Investigations confirmed Shikder's involvement in a December 2021 murder case registered at the Gopalganj police station in Bangladesh.

Reportedly, Shikder had absconded from Bangladesh after his temporary release from custody, subsequently entering India through illegal means. He had been residing in Gujarat and working as a scrap collector since last year.
