Following the recent serious BEST bus accident in Mumbai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future. The state government has acknowledged the gravity of the situation and is actively working on implementing safety measures.
Chief Minister Fadnavis made these remarks while responding to a proposal moved by Legislative Council member Sunil Shinde under Legislative Council Rule 289. He highlighted that the driver involved in the accident had undergone a thorough examination. Additionally, the government has initiated random examinations to ensure the safety of all BEST bus drivers.
In response to the growing concerns, the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) Undertaking has registered a demand for 1,300 new buses, which will soon be incorporated into the BEST fleet to enhance the safety and efficiency of the bus services.
Chief Minister Fadnavis also mentioned that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner has been instructed to conduct a detailed review of the current state of BEST buses. A comprehensive plan will be prepared to implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent future accidents.
