BJP led Mahayuti alliance dominates Vidhan Sabha Elections 2024 in Navi Mumbai and surrounding regions

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with Mahayuti alliance showcased their dominance in the 2024 Vidhan Sabha elections, winning key constituencies and retaining its stronghold across the region. From the closely contested Belapur Assembly Constituency to decisive victories in Dombivli and Uran, the BJP's Mahayuti alliance demonstrated its electoral might.
Incumbent Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde won the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly seat in Maharashtra by defeating Kedar Prakash Dighe from Shiv Sena (UBT) by over 1,20,717 votes, as per ECI at 4.30 pm. In the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, Eknath Shinde got 1,59,060 votes against Kedar Prakash Dighe who got 38,343 votes.
BJP leader and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis defeated Congress candidate Prafulla Gudadhe to win Nagpur South West seat.
Ganesh Naik Secures Landslide Victory in Airoli Constituency by 91,880 Votes
The much-anticipated results of the general assembly elections in Navi Mumbai’s constituencies were announced today, bringing an end to weeks of speculation. Ganesh Naik, contesting on BJP's lotus symbol from the Airoli Assembly Constituency, emerged victorious with a commanding lead of 91,880 votes.
Known as the "Architect of Navi Mumbai," Ganesh Naik faced stiff competition from independent candidate Vijay Chowgule, a former ally who contested as a rebel. The contest also included Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate M.K. Madhvi, MNS candidate Nilesh Bankhele, Swarajya Party’s Ankush Kadam, and 12 other independents.
Ganesh Naik secured an impressive 1,44,261 votes, outshining his closest rival, Vijay Chowgule, who garnered 52,381 votes. MVA’s M.K. Madhvi trailed with 38,576 votes, unable to make a significant dent in the BJP stronghold.
Manda Mhatre Retains Belapur Seat in a Nail-Biter
In one of the most intense battles of the election, Manda Mhatre, the Mahayuti candidate, triumphed over Sandeep Naik of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Belapur Assembly Constituency. Initially declared the winner by 502 votes, Mhatre’s victory was challenged by Naik, prompting a recount. However, even after the recount, Mhatre emerged victorious with a final margin of 377 votes.
The counting process, held at Agri Koli Bhavan in Nerul under tight security, saw dramatic fluctuations. Mhatre led in the early rounds, amassing 33,346 votes by the tenth round, compared to Naik’s 30,822 votes. Although Naik briefly overtook Mhatre in the 19th round, she regained her lead in the final stages, securing a hard-fought victory. Mhatre credited her win to the trust and unwavering support of her constituents.
Ravindra Chavan Secures Fourth Term in Dombivli
In Dombivli, BJP heavyweight Ravindra Chavan extended his winning streak, securing a fourth consecutive term with a commanding margin of 77,106 votes. Chavan garnered 1,23,815 votes, decisively defeating MVA candidate Dipesh Mhatre, who received 46,709 votes.
Chavan attributed his victory to the party’s strong ideological foundation and the dedication of BJP workers. "This is not just my victory but a triumph of the ideology we stand for. For over 40 years, Dombivli has remained a loyal stronghold of the Mahayuti," Chavan said during the victory celebrations, which were marked by jubilant supporters lighting firecrackers and showering gulal.
Mahesh Baldi Retains Uran Seat in a Close Contest
In the Uran Assembly Constituency, BJP’s Mahesh Baldi secured his second consecutive term by a margin of 7,807 votes. Baldi defeated Pritam Mhatre of the Peasants and Workers Party (PWP), who was initially predicted to win after leading in the first 15 rounds of counting. However, Baldi surged ahead in the later rounds, securing 95,055 votes compared to Mhatre’s 87,248 votes.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Manohar Sheth Bhoir trailed with 71,276 votes, cementing Baldi's hold over the constituency. Following the announcement of results, BJP workers celebrated with village-to-village processions and fireworks, underscoring the party's influence in the Uran region.
MLA Prashant Thakur Makes History with Fourth Consecutive Win in Panvel
Panvel: MLA Prashant Thakur, the Mahayuti candidate and a champion of Panvel's development, has once again made history by securing his fourth consecutive victory in the Panvel Assembly Constituency. The BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP-RPI-PRP-Mitra Paksha Mahayuti candidate defeated his main rival, Balaram Patil of Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP), with a margin of 51,091 votes. This victory also marked Balaram Patil's third consecutive defeat in the assembly elections.
Prashant Thakur, widely regarded as the "Architect of Panvel's Development," garnered 1,83,931 votes. His rivals trailed significantly, with Leena Gard securing 43,989 votes and Yogesh Chile of MNS obtaining 10,231 votes. Other candidates, including Kantilal Kadu of Lokmudra Janhit Party, Santosh Pawar of Republican Sena, and Gajendra Ahire of BSP, failed to make a significant impact. Meanwhile, NOTA received 3,905 votes.
The Panvel Assembly Constituency, the second-largest in Maharashtra, witnessed a voter turnout of 58.6%, with 3,82,335 voters casting their ballots out of 6,52,062 registered voters.
