BNCMC administration under fire for poor maintenance of Subhash Park

The deteriorating condition of parks under the jurisdiction of Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) has raised concerns about the lack of recreational spaces for children. With fewer parks available and many in poor condition, the city’s parks are in dire need of maintenance, which has been neglected by the municipal administration.

There are a total of 26 parks under the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation, many of which are either in disrepair or have been closed for maintenance. One of the most notable closures is Subhash Park, located in front of Nazrana Talkies at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk. The park, which has been closed for repairs, has sparked concerns about the availability of play areas for children.

Subhash Park, which was renovated on April 22, 2000, with the presence of Dharmaveer Late Anand Dighe, has been a popular spot for recreation. However, after the expiration of the 10-year contract with the park’s contractor, the park was handed over to the municipal administration, which has since failed to keep it in proper condition.

Speaking to Newsband, Nilesh Sankhe, Chief Garden Superintendent of BNCMC said, “We are aware of the condition of  Subhash Park. There is need for extensive civil work and the tender for the dam will be floated soon. Once the civil work is completed we will proceed with the horticulture work”.
