In response to the escalating traffic bottlenecks affecting residents daily, the administrator and commissioner of the Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC), Anmol Sagar, convened a crucial meeting with the police department on March 7.
During the discussions, Commissioner Sagar conducted a thorough review of the city's traffic challenges and underscored the urgency of implementing immediate measures. As a result, officials from the municipal corporation and the police department agreed to form an action committee. This committee will consist of representatives from both entities, tasked with conducting a detailed analysis of traffic flow within the city, identifying traffic bottleneck hotspots, and submitting a comprehensive report within two weeks.
Speaking to the media, Sagar stated, “To ensure better traffic management, the municipal corporation has decided to coordinate with the police department before carrying out road repairs, water supply pipeline work, or other infrastructural projects to prevent disruptions. Additionally, citizens will be notified in advance through newspapers about any work that may impact traffic flow.”
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Vitthal Dake, additional commissioner; Balkrishna Kshirsagar, deputy commissioner; and Jamil Patel, assistant commissioner of police (west).
Key Measures Planned to Tackle Traffic Jams:
The action committee will focus on:
- Identifying congestion points and implementing necessary improvements.
- Installing traffic signals at key intersections.
- Designating parking areas for rickshaws and evaluating an odd-even parking system on main roads.
- Introducing pay-and-park facilities to reduce roadside encroachments.
- Removing unauthorized rickshaws and abandoned vehicles obstructing traffic.
- Deploying traffic wardens to manage peak-hour congestion.
