In a meaningful celebration of Bhai Dooj, residents of Taloja have launched ‘Brotherhood Week’ or ‘Bhaichara Saptah,’ a week-long initiative promoting unity and harmony across the community. From November 3 to November 10, residents of Taloja Phase 1 and Phase 2 will exchange roses and sweets with their neighbours, symbolizing solidarity and mutual support.
The inaugural event took place on Sunday, November 3, in Sector 11, Taloja, where representatives from over 70 housing societies gathered to pledge their commitment to fostering unity among all residents, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. Organized by the Taloja CHS Federation, this unique week-long celebration aims to reinforce harmony amid ongoing struggles for basic amenities in the area.
Since 2021, residents have been consistently protesting for fundamental services such as regular water supply, power, and adequate road infrastructure. The ongoing water crisis, in particular, has severely impacted daily life, leading to repeated protests and complaint filings. The Taloja CHS Federation believes that a united community is essential to sustain these efforts, which is why Brotherhood Week was conceived as a way to strengthen social bonds.
"In Taloja, where people face severe water shortages and other basic amenity issues, maintaining harmony is essential. Without unity, our protests may not succeed," said Prasad Daghe Patil, President of the Federation. He added, "This week, representatives from each housing society have returned to their communities to deliver roses and sweets to residents, symbolizing a commitment to standing together for our rights."
