Strap: Imitative aims to curb crime and traffic violations
The Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra has announced the installation of 260 CCTV cameras in Ulhasnagar as part of a broader security initiative under the Thane Police Commissionerate. This decision follows a Government Resolution (GR) issued on January 5, 2024, aimed at enhancing security measures in sensitive areas and curbing crime and traffic violations.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Gore informed that the control room for these cameras will be located at the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation headquarters. The initiative is part of the ongoing effort to monitor key locations within the police zones of Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, and Badlapur. The cameras will be installed in sensitive areas and major intersections across the city.
The project will involve excavation work to install poles for the cameras, with coordination from the UlhasnagarMunicipal Corporation. Wireless Police Inspector Milind Birare has already met with Municipal Commissioner-in-charge Jamir Lengrekar to secure the necessary permissions for this phase of the installation.
260 CCTV cameras in Ulhasnagar will be monitored 24/7 under the supervision of senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner Gore, Municipal Commissioner-in-charge Lengrekar, and Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gavas. The cameras will play a crucial role in preventing crimes, monitoring traffic rule violations, and recording controversial incidents.
