Badlapur: Central Railway’s decision to impose grills on Platform No. 1 at the Badlapur local station has resulted in overcrowding and severe inconvenience to passengers.

The Central Railway’s decision has led to protests from local residents who are demanding the removal of the grills.

Badlapur city is undergoing rapid urbanization, which has put increasing pressure on railway transportation. As passenger numbers rise, there has been a growing demand for better amenities at the station.

For the past four years, the construction of the home platform has been progressing slowly, leading to crowding, particularly during peak hours.

Platforms No. 1A and 1 are essential for managing the large crowds and for the local trains to operate efficiently.

However, the Central Railway administration has installed grills on Platform No. 1 as part of encroachment control efforts. Consequently, commuters can now disembark only on one side of the platform, leading to more congestion on the platform and footbridge.

On Monday, an MNS delegation met with railway officials, demanding the removal of the grills. Officials assured them that since the decision was made at a senior level, they would consult the DRM office for further steps.
