In a significant move to benefit over 1 lakh central government employees and retirees, a new CGHS Wellness Centre will be established at Charai in Thane. The long-pending demand of the CGHS Beneficiaries Association, Thane, has finally been fulfilled due to the efforts of MP Naresh Mhaske, who secured central approval for the health centre.

The centre will be located on a spacious 3,000 sq. ft. site at MTNL Charai, with the central government also approving the annual rent for the premises. The decision ensures free healthcare services for employees of various central government departments, including Customs, Income Tax, Navy, BSNL, MTNL, Air India, and others, as well as their families and pensioners.

The association had faced multiple rejections in the past but, with the intervention of MP Naresh Mhaske, the proposal gained momentum. After site inspections by MTNL, CGHS officials, and association representatives, the proposal was sent to the Union Health Ministry, which approved it within two months. MP Mhaske personally followed up on the matter with Union Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav, expediting the approval.

“This wellness centre is a major step toward providing free health benefits under the Government Health and Welfare Scheme. It will serve current employees, pensioners, and eligible family members, including spouses, dependent parents, children up to 25 years of age, and unmarried daughters,” said MP Naresh Mhaske.

The association's president, Subhash Patwardhan, secretary Sharad Bhole, vice-president Arun Raut, and treasurer Chandrakant Kamble expressed their gratitude to MP Naresh Mhaske for his dedicated efforts in making this centre a reality.

The CGHS Wellness Centre is expected to be operational soon, marking a significant New Year’s gift for central employees and retirees in the Thane district and surrounding areas.
