Children of Owe village turn Kharghar Helipad into cricket playground

top-news

The children of Owe village in Kharghar have found a unique recreational space playing cricket on the helipad built for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit. The helipad, located near Central Park in the Kharghar Corporate Park, was constructed for a campaign meeting during the Legislative Assembly elections.

Before the development of CIDCO Colony, the children of Owe village enjoyed traditional games like cricket, kabaddi and other outdoor games within and around the village. While CIDCO provided some parks and grounds during the construction of Kharghar Colony, many of these amenities have bypassed the needs of local villagers.

Previously, children from Owe and Taloja villages used an open plot near Farasipada for cricket and football. However, the sale of the plot by CIDCO and subsequent construction has left them without a dedicated space for outdoor activities.

In the absence of local parks or fields, children have resorted to utilizing the open spaces in the Kharghar Corporate Park. The recently constructed helipad, with its levelled surface and asphalt paving, has become a favourite spot for playing cricket and other games.
