Navi Mumbai: Sanjay Shirsat, Chairman of CIDCO, visited the Navi Mumbai International Airport project site to review its progress. He was accompanied by key CIDCO officials, including Vijay Singhal, Vice President and Managing Director, Shantanu Goyal, and Dilip Dhole, Joint Managing Directors, Geeta Pillai, Chief General Manager (Transport & Airport), and Sheela Karunakaran, Chief Engineer (Special Projects).

During his visit, Shirsat emphasized the importance of the project, noting its impact on the development of the state and the country. He praised the satisfactory progress but issued directives to expedite the remaining work within the set timeline to ensure the airport's operational readiness.

“The Navi Mumbai International Airport will play a crucial role in the growth of both the state and the nation. I have given instructions to complete the project swiftly so that flights can take off soon,” Shirsat stated.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport, India's largest greenfield airport, spans 1,160 hectares and is being developed in two phases. It is designed to accommodate 90 million passengers and handle 2.5 tonnes of cargo annually. With two parallel runways and taxiways, the airport will significantly enhance the region's aviation capacity. Pre-development work has been completed, and full-scale airport construction is underway. Recent signal and instrument landing system tests conducted by the Airport Authority of India were successful.

During the visit Mr. Shirsat also held discussions with CIDCO and NMIAL (Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited) officials, where he reiterated the importance of adhering to the project’s timeline for timely completion.
