Call for regularization in NAINA Area

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has issued notices to remove hundreds of illegally erected hoardings by private advertisers in 94 villages within the Navi Mumbai International Impact Notification Area (NAINA area). This notice has prompted immediate action from hoarding owners, who have begun dismantling the advertisement boards. However, this action has raised concerns about the livelihoods of thousands of families dependent on the hoarding business, as stated by officials from the Navi Mumbai-Raigad Hoarding and Media Association.

In response, the association has submitted a request to CIDCO's Naina Area Controller of Unauthorized Constructions, urging a halt to the removal actions. They are also advocating for the regularization of existing hoardings through proper taxation. Ajit Kander, president of the association, emphasized that such a measure would safeguard the employment of thousands of families reliant on this industry.

Hoarding owners contend that the hoardings within the NAINA Authority limits were installed by private owners who have already paid taxes to the gram panchayat, obtained no-objection certificates, and established formal agreements with landowners. They argue that they were unaware of the requirement to seek additional permission from the NAINA Authority for these installations.
