Navi Mumbai citizens welcome deep cleaning drives to improve air quality

In an effort to enhance air quality and cleanliness, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a special fortnight-long deep cleaning campaign, running from December 30 to January 13. The initiative, aimed at cleaning streets, sidewalks, and public spaces, is being carried out under the guidance of NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and involves a well-coordinated team of officers and sanitation workers.

With a focus on environmental cleanliness, the cleaning drives are being executed across all eight divisions of the city. The NMMC has prepared a detailed action plan, which includes the cleaning of accumulated dirt and dust from roads, sidewalks, and adjacent walls. Modern fogging machines are being used to spray treated water, further accelerating the cleaning process and contributing to improved air quality.

The deep cleaning drive is already yielding positive results, with citizens reporting noticeable improvements in air quality. As a result, more people are seen jogging in the mornings and evenings, while others are walking through open spaces, enjoying the clean environment. These efforts are part of the NMMC's broader plan to tackle pollution and promote a healthier living environment for residents.

On January 1, thorough cleaning drives were carried out in key areas such as the Jewel of Navi Mumbai Road (Belapur Division), roads in front of D Mart (Turbhe Division), Kanchanganga Apartment to D Mart Circle (Koparkhairane Division), and more. On January 2, cleaning efforts extended to locations including Agroli Sector 30 Road (Belapur Division), Prashant Corner to Rajiv Gandhi Bridge (Nerul Division), and Mahape MIDC Road (Koparkhairane Division), among others.

The NMMC’s deep cleaning drive is set to continue in all eight divisional office areas, ensuring that by the end of the campaign, significant improvements in both cleanliness and air quality are achieved.
