City based Durga Puja Associations pay tribute to Ratan Tata

As the nation mourns the passing of Shri Ratan Tata, the eminent industrialist, visionary leader, and philanthropist, city-based Durga Puja associations have come together to honour his legacy during the ongoing Navaratri festivities. Across Navi Mumbai, tributes are being paid to the great son of India, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Ratan Naval Tata, in heartfelt ways.

Associations are marking the profound loss with various gestures of respect. The Vashi Cultural Association, celebrating Durga Puja at Sector 14, Vashi, has displayed a photograph of Ratan Tata on a giant LED screen with an "RIP" note, and attendees observed a minute of silence before the start of cultural programs.

Similarly, the Seawoods Cultural Welfare Association, hosting Durga Puja at Ganapati Tandel Ground, is also paying homage by displaying Tata’s image on a large screen. Gautam Chakraborty from the committee delivered a speech detailing Tata's philanthropic contributions and his remarkable journey in shaping the welfare of society.

The Navi Mumbai Bengali Association is observing a moment of silence during cultural events at their Puja venue and shared a small anecdote reflecting on the life and accomplishments of the late Ratan Tata.

Shri Gujarat Bhavan, Vashi as well declared the collection of Rass Garba on 10th October as tribute. Speaking to Newsband, President, Hasmukh Bhai Kanani of Shri Gujarat Bhavan said, “It is a great loss to the nation. As a tribute to Shri Rata Tata we have called off the Rass Garba on 10th October”.

Koparkhairane-based Lohana Samaj Navaratri Mandal also paid respects to Mr. Tata. Before their Dandiya sessions, members of the Samaj kept a minute of silence and delivered speeches on his vision and work.

Citizens are now urging that Ratan Tata be posthumously honoured with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, as a recognition of his lifelong contributions to the nation and his unparalleled legacy.

The last rites of Ratan Tata was held at the Worli crematorium on 10th October, 2024 following a state honour. Union home minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and other leaders were present for the last rites of the veteran industrialist.
