Uran: In a proud moment for the town of Uran, Varda Aasarkar (11) has been honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand National Sports Award 2024 for her exceptional achievements in the sport of skating.

Varda was recognized for her outstanding contributions to skating during a special ceremony held in Karad, Satara. The event was organized by a team led by Prof. Amol Sathe and Adv. Surendra Cameraman, an Asian Gold Medalist.

Every year, August 29th is celebrated as National Sports Day in India, marking the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. On this occasion, athletes who have demonstrated remarkable accomplishments in their respective sports are honored. This year, Varda Aasarkar's incredible achievements in skating earned her the Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand National Sports Award.
