With Holi just around the corner, residents are getting into their groove to celebrate the festival with gusto. Housing societies across the region have planned grand celebrations, blending age-old customs with modern revelry.

For residents of Radhika Apartments in Sector 17, Vashi, the festivities will commence with Holika Dahan on March 13. This traditional bonfire ritual symbolizes the victory of good over evil and will be performed with prayers and offerings.

"Holi in our society is always celebrated with great enthusiasm. After Holika Dahan, we gather in the complex the next day to play with colors, followed by a hearty lunch together as a family," shared Neenu Jain, chairman of Radhika Apartments CHS.

Meanwhile, Shah Heights in Sector 7, Kharghar, has planned a rain dance party and DJ event to mark the festival. "Our Holi celebrations are a mix of tradition and fun," Bhawana Gupta, a resident of Shah Heights said.

In Regency Estate, Dombivli, the celebrations are relatively simple. “We don’t have a lavish Holi celebration. We have 22 buildings in our complex and residents of all the buildings participate in the festivities,” Pravin Thigle, a resident of Regency Estate shared.

For the Evergreen Senior Citizens’ Group of NRI Complex, Seawoods, Holi takes on a unique and flower-filled form. For the past 11 years, the group has been celebrating Phoolon Ki Holi—a festival of flowers.

“We host a pre-Holi bash with Phoolon Ki Holi, where members shower each other with flower petals. This year, it was held on March 12.” Asma Contractor, a member of the group, said.
