Communities across the city are gearing up to celebrate Kojagari Lakshmi Pujan tonight, coinciding with the full moon, also known as Kaumudi night, a time to honor the 'moonlight' and seek blessings from Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity. Odia, North Indian, and Maharashtrian households will stay awake throughout the night to welcome the Goddess of wealth into their homes. Women are preparing the special delicacy Sharad Kheer and plan to spend the night singing and dancing under the open sky.

Following Durga Puja, Bengali associations throughout the city are now set to observe Kojagari Lakshmi Puja on the evening of 16th October at their respective Durga Puja venues as a customary ritual. The Vashi Cultural Association (VCA) will hold Kojagari Lakshmi Puja in the evening, as per the Bengali almanac, at the same Durga Puja mandap located at ICL Ground, Sector 15, Vashi. The organizers have made extensive arrangements, including the Puja, Pushpanjali, and Bhog distribution, to accommodate local devotees.

The VCA’s Durgotsav 2024 concluded successfully, drawing over 40,000 visitors to its popular venue. This year's event featured a sprawling open layout, with a massive auditorium and Durga mandap decorated with paintings from the Ramayana as the centerpiece. Artists from Kolkata and Mumbai captivated the audience with folk and modern songs during the cultural programs held over four days.

Vashi Cultural Association, marking its 20th edition of Durgotsav, returned to its roots at ICL Ground, rekindling a sense of nostalgia among the Bengali community. The Durga idol, crafted in the traditional 'Ekchala' style, was widely appreciated by visitors. The evening arati attracted large crowds, and over 6,000 devotees enjoyed the Bhog prasad during the festivities.
