CM Eknath Shinde inaugurates phase one of RRP Electronics semiconductor project

Navi Mumbai: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the first phase of the Electronics Semiconductor Project of RRP Company at the MIDC area in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. CM Shinde praised the project's significance, stating, "I am proud that a Marathi man is revolutionizing the electronics semiconductor project OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing). This government will continue to provide the needed support."

The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of prominent personalities, including cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Senior Scientist Padma Bhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Principal Secretary of Industries Department Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, Development Commissioner Dipendra Singh Kushwaha, Thane Collector Ashok Shingare, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Kailas Shinde, Mumbai Police Force One Chief Krishna Prakash, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, and RRP Electronics Limited CEO Rajendra Chodankar.

Chief Minister Shinde emphasized the government's commitment to industrial progress in Maharashtra, citing successful schemes like the Ladaki Baheen initiative and rapid work on major projects like the Atal Setu, which has reduced travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai from two hours to just 20 minutes. He highlighted that the government had signed enterprise agreements worth five lakh crore rupees in Davos, promising job opportunities and work for around 400 units in the electronics semiconductor sector. "This government is for all," Shinde stated, assuring entrepreneurs that any industry-related issues would be resolved promptly. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating India's economy from the eleventh to the fifth position globally.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke at the event, expressing pride in Maharashtra hosting India's first semiconductor project. He emphasized the importance of semiconductor technology in strengthening India's position in the global economy, especially after disruptions in the global supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Maharashtra is the first state to formulate a policy in the semiconductor field," Fadnavis stated, highlighting the state's role in the rapidly evolving electronic and digital ecosystem.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the project's importance for Maharashtra's industrial development and the digital revolution. He pointed out that the government has taken significant steps to decentralize the industry and provide various subsidies, with 12,000 crores invested in the semiconductor project.

RRP Electronics Limited CEO Rajendra Chodankar provided detailed information about the project during the event.
