CM Eknath Shinde launches 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign in Thane

Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) Swachhata Hi Seva campaign was officially launched on Tuesday, September 17, by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Parsik Retibandar Visarjan Ghat. During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of cleanliness for health and urged citizens to uphold high standards of cleanliness in their daily lives.

During the event Chief Minister Shinde took a personal pledge to maintain cleanliness, vowing not to litter and to ensure others follow the same. He committed to sorting waste into wet and dry categories and advocated for the use of proper waste disposal methods. Additionally, he pledged to support the Swachh Bharat Mission by reducing the use of plastic and thermocol, aiming to make Thane and by extension, the nation plastic and thermocol free.

The launch event saw the presence of MP Naresh Mhaske, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Additional Commissioners Sandeep Malvi and Prashant Rode, Deputy Commissioner Manish Joshi, Shankar Patole, Health Officer Dr. Rani Shinde, and Executive Engineer Sudhir Gaikwad.

As part of the campaign, Chief Minister Shinde distributed saplings to citizens under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign will run with enthusiasm across the country from September 17 to October 2, featuring activities such as public awareness programs, cleanliness drives, and the setup of selfie points highlighting various themes like Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, Swachhata Karmchari, and Green Thane. The campaign aims to foster long-term public awareness and engagement with cleanliness beyond October 2.
