CM Eknath Shinde lays foundation stone of Koli Bhavan in Airoli

Navi Mumbai: The foundation stone of the long-awaited Koli Bhavan was laid by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Airoli, Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Shinde assured the community that funding for the Koli Bhavan will not be an issue, emphasizing the need for a grand and permanent structure. “Koli Bhavan cannot be built again and again. It must be a magnificent building that truly represents the community. There is no need to worry about finances,” he said.

Prominent leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Manda Mhatre, and MLC Ramesh Patil, were present at the event. CM Shinde praised the Koli community, calling them the "Kings of the Sea" and highlighting their significant contributions to Mumbai's identity and culture. He mentioned the global appreciation for Koli songs and dances during the recent G-20 summit in Mumbai.

The Chief Minister further stated, "Our government’s priority is to ensure justice for the Bhumiputras. We have initiated several welfare schemes, including the Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana and 'Chief Minister Youth Training' programs, which are aimed at improving the lives of the people."

Deputy CM Fadnavis, in his address, acknowledged the long journey leading up to the Bhoomipujan and reaffirmed the government's commitment to the Koli community. "This will be the most beautiful Koli Bhavan in Navi Mumbai, and funds will not be an issue," he added, announcing a provision of Rs. 25 crore to resolve issues faced by the fishing community due to development projects like Atal Setu and the coastal road.

The Koli Bhavan is expected to become a major cultural and social hub for the community, with government officials assuring full support for the completion of the project.
