Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the initiation of the Chief Minister's Pilgrim Visit Scheme (Teerth Darshan Yojana) The scheme is aimed at helping the elderly people who are unable to visit the religious sites on their own. The announcement was made during a session in the Legislative Assembly, he revealed that policies and regulations are being prepared to facilitate senior citizens' visits to pilgrimage sites through government support.

The announcement came in response to an interesting suggestion from Assembly member Pratap Sarnaik. Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that the current government is dedicated to the common people, highlighting that the supplementary budget presented the previous day included various provisions for farmers, labourers, workers, women, and youth.

Maharashtra, known as the land of saints, attracts numerous pilgrims annually. The Chief Minister's Teerth Darshan Yojana is designed to make it easier for senior citizens to visit these sacred sites. The scheme will involve the creation of a comprehensive policy and the establishment of specific rules. It will be implemented by inviting online applications on a rotating basis, ensuring that all eligible senior citizens have the opportunity to participate.
