Criticizes Congress for strangling the ‘Constitution’ and ‘Insulting the Supreme Court’
Smriti Irani, former Union Minister and BJP leader, strongly criticized the Congress for its attempt to reimpose Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a women's meeting in Kalyan organized in support of BJP candidate Sulabha Gaikwad, Irani dismissed the Congress and Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance's (INDIA) resolution passed in Kashmir as unconstitutional and a direct insult to the Indian Constitution.
Irani accused Congress of “strangling the Constitution" and trampling the Supreme Court’s decisions while undermining the decision of the Indian Parliament. She emphasized, "The resolve of every Indian is clear: Article 370 will not be implemented again. When it was in force, the rights and reservations of Dalit, tribal, and backward classes in Jammu and Kashmir were compromised. Women and children were denied protection, and abuses went unchallenged”.
Irani also condemned the use of slogans like "vote jihad" by opposition parties during the election campaign, accusing them of attacking the Constitution. She urged the public to vote for the BJP, stressing the party’s focus on development and unity.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Madhuri Kale, former Shiv Sena corporator, and Sangeeta Gaikwad.
