Maharashtra has taken a significant leap forward in cyber security with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Cyber Security Project at Millennium Business Park, Mahape Industrial Estate. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who led the inauguration, emphasized that this advanced project will safeguard the public from cyber-attacks and significantly reduce online fraud, addressing growing concerns about cybercrime.

In his address, Fadnavis underscored the importance of cybercrime prevention as the world becomes increasingly digitized, stating that Maharashtra is at the forefront of India’s efforts in both technology and cyber security. The new centre will serve as a training hub, preparing 5,000 police officers annually to tackle cyber threats. Fadnavis expressed confidence in the project’s potential to protect the public and secure the digital space.

Notable attendees at the event included MLA Ramesh Patil, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Iqbal Chahal, and Special Inspector General of Police (Cyber) Yashaswi Yadav.

To further assist citizens with cyber-related concerns, Fadnavis announced the activation of a dedicated helpline (14407), which will become fully operational on October 15, 2024. The helpline will offer immediate support and guidance for those facing cyber threats.

The Maharashtra Cyber Security Project is set to become India’s most modern cyber security hub, collaborating with private sector experts and guiding other states in cybercrime management. The event also marked the launch of the project's official website, providing a digital gateway for its services.

Fadnavis acknowledged the contributions of key project leaders, including Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Brijesh Singh and Special Inspector General Yashaswi Yadav, praising their efforts in shaping the state’s cyber defense infrastructure.
