Diwale village rings in New Year with inauguration of Virangula Kendra for senior citizens

A momentous start to 2024 unfolded in Diwale Village as the Virangula Kendra for senior citizens was inaugurated under the Diwale Gaon-Smart Village initiative, funded by MLA Manda Mhatre's development fund. The inauguration ceremony, attended by NMMC Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar, marked a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of smart villages.

MLA Manda Mhatre, representing the Belapur Assembly Constituency, has adopted Diwale Village as the first Smart Village in Navi Mumbai, aligning with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' Village Adoption Scheme. In her New Year's message, Mhatre extended her wishes for a happy, prosperous, and healthy year ahead, emphasizing her commitment to the well-being of the community.

As part of the Gaon Dattak Yojana, Manda Mhatre allocated Rs. 25 crores from her MLA fund to establish the Virangula Kendra for senior citizens in Diwale Village. The Kendra aims to provide a space for the elderly to engage in various activities and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Additionally, an open gym has been set up in the vicinity of the kendra, offering a space for senior citizens to exercise and maintain their health. MLA Manda Mhatre expressed her dedication to working for the senior citizens of Belapur Constituency throughout the year, focusing on their health and overall quality of life.

Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar acknowledged the tireless efforts made to transform Diwale Village into a smart village, thanking MLA Manda Mhatre for her contributions. In recent months, various development projects, including a community temple, gazebo, fish and vegetable centre, and band training centre, have been inaugurated in Diwale Village.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that the proposed development works would soon be completed, ensuring the holistic development of Diwale Village. He congratulated MLA Manda Mhatre for her commitment to the community and expressed confidence that the dream of making Diwale Village a smart village would be realized.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local leaders, including former corporator Bharti Koli, President of the Senior Virangula Kendra Chandrakant Koli, and other dignitaries from the community.
