Dombivlikar Rose Festival kicks off with enthusiasm

Rose lovers from all over Maharashtra gathered to participate

The Dombivlikar Rose Festival is a highly anticipated annual event that brings immense joy to the hearts of Dombivli residents and people from surrounding areas. Celebrating its 15th year, the festival has become a major highlight in the community. This year's festival took place over the weekend, at Bal Bhavan in Ramnagar, on Saturday and Sunday. The opening ceremony was graced by BJP State President, Ravindra Chavan.

As in previous editions, the festival benefited from the expertise of the Indian Rose Federation, a national network of rose enthusiasts, and the invaluable support of the Bombay Rose Society and the Inner Wheel Club of Kalyan. Rose lovers from all over Maharashtra gathered to participate and celebrate the beauty of roses.

Award-winning roses were recognised at the event, with Ashish More from Vangani earning the titles of ‘King of Roses’ and ‘Queen of Roses’ for his exceptional blooms. Pundalik Nimhan’s roses from Pune were awarded ‘Queen of Roses’, while Chandrakant More from Vangani received the title of ‘Prince of Roses’. Mansura Zahoor Hussain’s rose won the prestigious ‘Best Fragrant Rose’ award. Prashant Telang, Tizare, Dr. Dhananjay Gujarathi, and Nilesh Apte were also presented with awards for their contributions to the exhibition.

Chandrakant More, a stalwart in rose competitions for over 50 years, was honoured with a special award for his consistent participation and dedication. The competition was judged by experts including Dr. Vikas Mhaskar, Balwant Thipse, Ravindra Bhide, Jagdish Mhatre, Ganesh Shirke, Arshad Bhiwandiwala, and Mancher Irani.
