Drug-Free Navi Mumbai campaign inaugurated by CM Devendra Fadnavis

Calling upon the youth to act as soldiers in the fight against drugs, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday, 8th January inaugurated the Drug-Free Navi Mumbai campaign at the CIDCO Auditorium, Vashi. The initiative, led by the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, aims to create a society free from the menace of drugs, which Fadnavis described as an "invisible enemy" harming the country and its people.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, actor and campaign ambassador John Abraham, MLAs Manda Mhatre, Prashant Thakur, and Mahesh Baldi, along with Legislative Council Member Vikrant Patil, District Collector Ashok Shingare, and other key officials.
In his address, Chief Minister Fadnavis urged the youth to take a stand against drugs, stating, "This is a form of patriotism and service to society. Drug abuse not only destroys individual lives but also weakens the nation. We must fight this battle together and make India drug-free."
He emphasized the importance of mental strength and determination to resist the temptation of drugs and praised the Navi Mumbai Police for their proactive efforts. Fadnavis also warned of the social collapse seen in countries like Canada due to drug abuse, underscoring the need for a united effort across states to combat this issue.
Actor John Abraham commended the Navi Mumbai Police and encouraged the youth to lead disciplined lives. "Set an example for your friends and family through your actions. A drug-free life is not just a choice; it is a responsibility," he said.
Minister Ganesh Naik highlighted the importance of channeling one’s energy into positive endeavors. "The passion for good work is the real intoxication. Together, we can make Navi Mumbai a model city in this campaign against drugs," he asserted.
Milind Bharambe, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner, provided insights into the ongoing initiatives against drug abuse. He emphasized the department’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace and fostering a safe, healthy society.
The event concluded with a resounding call for unity and action to ensure the success of the "Drug-Free Navi Mumbai" campaign, encouraging attendees to pledge their support and act as responsible citizens.
