In a remarkable initiative that blends creativity with environmental responsibility, an eco-friendly seed Ganpati making workshop was held for specially-abled students at Swami Brahmanand Pratishthan in Belapur. The event took place on Sunday and was facilitated by members of the Inner Wheel Club of Navi Mumbai Sangini Centurion, in collaboration with Dharmendra Kar's 'Way to ISR.'

Over 50 students from the Swami Brahmanand Pratishthan Centre for Special Children participated in the two-hour workshop, which aimed to promote the 'Save Navi Mumbai City Waterbodies' campaign while adopting eco-friendly clay seedball Ganpati idols.

Navinder Dhillon, a member of the Inner Wheel Club and Rotary Ann of NBSS, led the session, providing hands-on experience in crafting the eco-friendly idols. Seed balls, provided by Dharmendra Kar, were used to create modaks and laddoos, which were embedded into each idol. This technique ensures that the seeds will sprout after the Ganpati idols are immersed, contributing to environmental conservation.

Highlighting the workshop's objective Ajit Kaur Dhillon, project coordinator, said,  "This unique initiative aims to teach participants how to make Ganpati idols using eco-friendly clay and seedballs, instilling a deeper understanding of environmental conservation. The seedballs were integrated into each idol so that they will grow after immersion, promoting a greener and more sustainable celebration of Ganesh festival."

The workshop also focused on enhancing hand-eye coordination among the students, as they crafted seedball modaks by kneading them in their palms. A teacher from Pratisthan stated, "This activity not only fosters creativity but also helps the specially-abled children develop coordination skills."

Inner Wheel Club of Navi Mumbai Sangini Centurion President, Mrs. Mini Sawant, expressed the club's commitment to such initiatives, aiming to celebrate festivals in harmony with nature and foster a community-driven approach to sustainability.

The event concluded with a tree plantation drive, supported by Dharmendra Kar under the tagline #EkPedMaaKeNaam, reinforcing the message of individual social responsibility and the importance of mitigating climate change impacts.
