Election surveillance nets Rs. 1.26 lakh cash at Dhansar toll gate

In a significant action under the Model Code of Conduct for the 2024 Assembly General Election, a team of Election Department officials seized a cash amount of Rs. 1,26,500 during an investigation operation at the Dhansar Toll Gate, located on the Kalyan Shilphata to Kalamboli road in Panvel.
The incident occurred at 9:50 AM on November 16, when the Fixed Survey Team No. 01 (SST-01) stopped a white Creta vehicle for a routine check. During the inspection, officials discovered the large sum of cash concealed in a brown leather bag inside the vehicle. As the cash was found to be suspicious and unaccounted for, it was promptly seized by the authorities.
This action was carried out under the supervision of Panvel 188 Assembly Constituency Election Officer, Mr. Pawan Chandak, with the support of various key officials including Assistant Election Decision Officer Mr. Vijay Patil, Code of Conduct Team Leader Mr. Bharat Rathore, and Assistant Expenditure Controller Mr. Vijay Fase, among others.
The team was accompanied by police personnel from Panvel City Police Station and Khandeshwar Police Station, ensuring a coordinated effort in maintaining election integrity. The authorities have confirmed that further investigations into the origin of the seized cash will follow, as part of strict enforcement of the election code.
