In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Thane on Saturday, October 5, for the inauguration and dedication ceremony of various projects at Ghodbunder Road, Kasarvadvali, the Thane City Transport Department has imposed a temporary ban on heavy vehicles. The move aims to prevent traffic congestion during the event, which will attract several dignitaries and a large public gathering.

As per the directive, all heavy goods vehicles traveling from Navi Mumbai towards Thane will be prohibited from entering, passing, or parking on city roads from 12:00 AM on Friday until 11:00 PM on Saturday night. Navi Mumbai’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tirupati Kakade, issued a notification in this regard, instructing the Navi Mumbai Transport Department to enforce the ban.

The department has also provided alternative routes for heavy vehicles during this period. Trucks heading from JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust) towards Nashik are advised to take routes via Chowk, Karjat, Murbad, Shahapur, Kasara, and Igatpuri. Similarly, vehicles going towards Gujarat from JNPT can use routes via Chowk, Karjat, Murbad, Shahapur, Wada, and Manor Toll Road. Vehicles can also travel to their destination via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Chakan Nagar Nashik Highway.

Emergency services, including fire brigades, police vehicles, ambulances, and other essential service vehicles, are exempt from this notification.
