Fire extinguishers installed at all KDMC-run schools

Since assuming office, KDMC Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar has prioritised the upkeep and maintenance of municipal schools. School repair work is underway, under this initiative.
To further enhance school safety, fire extinguishers have now been installed in all KDMC schools.
To educate students and teachers on fire prevention and response, Namdev Chaudhary, Chief Fire Officer, and Vinayak Lokhande, Centre Officer conducted a training session at Barave School.
They provided insights on fire hazards, proper extinguisher use, and firefighting techniques in a simple and effective manner. Students and teachers actively participated in practical demonstrations. Similar training sessions will be conducted in the remaining municipal schools.
Furthermore, 650 CCTV cameras have been installed across all municipal schools to ensure cleanliness, security, and safety.
Fire safety training is also being provided at KDMC’s fire stations. According to Executive Engineer Prashant Bhagwat, fire extinguishers previously installed at Tata Amritan during the COVID-19 period have been repurposed for municipal schools. The event was attended by Vijay Sarkate, KDMC Education Officer, school teachers, and students from Barave School.
