Outlines ambitious plans for department

Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik officially assumed the role of Forest Minister in the state cabinet, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Forest Department. Senior forest officials attended the ceremonial occasion, where Naik emphasized his commitment to fulfilling public expectations regarding the department's initiatives.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' cabinet, Naik revealed that a 100-day action plan for the Forest Department has been crafted. This plan aligns with the 100-day development roadmap set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Fadnavis.

Ahead of taking charge, Naik met with Chief Minister Fadnavis to discuss key issues concerning the Forest Department. One of the major initiatives he announced was the promotion of bamboo cultivation to enhance paper production in the state. He highlighted that the central government has established an expert committee to explore the potential of bamboo cultivation across the country, and the state would seek guidance from this body.

Naik stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between villages and the Forest Department to manage forested areas effectively. He also addressed the rising concerns over human-wildlife conflict, particularly tiger attacks. "Measures will be taken to protect animal habitats and ensure the safety of humans," he assured.

Barshi MLA Dilip Sopal reached out to the new Forest Minister, raising concerns about the increasing population of leopards and Bengal tigers in his constituency. Naik immediately directed forest officials to investigate the matter and implement necessary measures to address the issue.
