Mumbai: After decades of struggle, project affected people (PAP) in Navi Mumbai can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Urban Development Department has issued a government order to regularize the need-based constructions made out of necessity by the PAP. MP Naresh Mhaske expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and local representatives for their support in this long-awaited decision.

For the past 40 years, these individuals have been advocating for the regularization of their constructions, facing numerous challenges even after a previous government order was passed two years ago. Recognizing the urgency of the matter, Chief Minister Shinde initiated an immediate meeting to address the ongoing issues.

On September 11, 2024, a critical discussion was held between CIDCO officials and local Bhoomiputras, chaired by Asim Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department. The meetings aimed to rectify errors in the earlier orders and culminated in the issuance of a new General Resolution (GR) aligned with the demands of the project victims.

The recent order, based on Government Decision No. CID-3317/P.No.94/Navi-10, regularizes constructions completed by project victims up to February 25, 2022. This significant step addresses the grievances of those who constructed out of necessity, ensuring they receive the justice they deserve.

MP Naresh Mhaske extended his appreciation to various officials and community leaders, including Principal Secretary Asim Gupta, CIDCO Vice President Vijay Singhal, and local Shiv Sena leaders, for their cooperation in this effort. This decision marks a crucial victory for the project victims in Navi Mumbai, providing them with the security and recognition they have long sought.
