Navi Mumbai based Avalon Heights International School was a picture of excitement and anticipation as it geared up to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of India early this week. The Vashi based campus brimmed with unbridled energy as students, staff, and parents rushed around—some tying vibrant safas (designer turbans) with pride, while others ensured their tricolor attire shone bright in the morning light. Laughter and camaraderie filled the air, setting the tone for what would become an unforgettable celebration.

The monumental day began with the ceremonial unfurling of the National Flag by the ICSE Board based school’s Founding Director, Dr. Simi Sharma, and Honorable Trustee, Sanjay Sharma. The National Anthem reverberated through the air uniting every voice in patriotic harmony. Shortly after, the much-awaited parade was flagged off by Sanjay Sharma and Senior Police Inspector of APMC, Ajay Shinde, marking the revival of a cherished tradition after 13 long years.

The parade wound through the streets of Vashi, transforming them into a canvas of national pride. Participants danced to the electrifying beats of the Nashik Dhol, chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', ' Vande Mataram' and 'Jai Hind' with uninhibited enthusiasm. Decorated cars stole the spotlight, showcasing India’s rich heritage through intricate displays of monuments, landscapes, traditional weaves, and achievements, while other vehicles adorned with tricolor artwork added charm. Spectators stood in awe, their smiles reflecting the parade's vibrant spirit.

Back on campus, the celebration continued with a warm welcome for the Chief Guest, Commander Samir Mittal, along with his better half and some heartwarming cultural performances marked with patriotic fervor, friendly competitions, and moments of shared joy. Students, teachers, and parents danced together, their energy and unity leaving an indelible mark on everyone present.

“This Republic Day, Avalon Heights proved that traditions, when revived, can breathe new life into a community. It was a day of pride, celebration, and the unwavering spirit of togetherness,” shared Founding Director, Dr. Simi Sharma on the occasion.
