Heavy rainfall hits Navi Mumbai: NMMC records 123.58 mm average rainfall in 24 hours

Navi Mumbai: The city witnessed significant rainfall over the past 24 hours, with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) recording an average of 123.58 mm from 8:30 a.m. on 25th September to 8:30 a.m. on 26th September 2024.

The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Koparkhairne, which received 194.82 mm, followed by Airoli at 153.92 mm, and Vashi at 120.39 mm. Other nodes such as Belapur (88.00 mm), Nerul (66.31 mm), and Digha (118.20 mm) also experienced substantial rainfall. The total rainfall in this monsoon season has now reached 2572.50 mm.

The downpour led to minor disruptions in the city, with NMMC’s Disaster Management Cell responding to two cases of tree falls, one fire incident, one short circuit, and one instance of waterlogging. Fortunately, no major damage or injuries were reported.

At Morbe Dam, which supplies water to the region, 108.00 mm of rainfall was recorded over the past 24 hours, bringing the total rainfall this monsoon to 3923.00 mm.
The dam’s current water level stands at 88.00 metres, with a storage capacity of 190.890 million cubic metres (MCM), ensuring adequate water supply for the city. This means that Morbe Dam is at full capacity.

Residents have been advised to stay cautious as high tide is expected at 7:17 p.m. today, with the tide reaching a height of 2.72 metres.
