The Rohit  Sharma led Indian cricket team which slumped to a 113 runs defeat to New Zealand in the second Test of the three-match series in Pune on Saturday also ended their 12-year-long streak of winning Test series at home.

Chasing 359 in their second innings, India lost the wicket of their skipper Rohit Sharma (8) once again cheaply. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (77 ) and Shubman Gill (23) who added  62 run partnership for the second wicket however revived Indian fight back before both were caught by all-rounder Daryl Mitchell off left arm spinner Mitchell Santner. Ravindra Jadeja (42) was the other key batter who made a substantial contribution. Santer once again proved to be the nemesis for the host batter and scalped 13 wickets (seven and six) in the match innings was named the Player of the Match.

The loss in the second Test of the three-match series has dented India's chances of entering the World Test Championship final too, despite them still retaining the pole position with a win percentage of 62.82 (68.06 before the match). Second-placed and current WTC winners Australia have a PCT of 62.50 while third-placed Sri Lanka are on 55.56. New Zealand are fourth with a PCT of 50 while fifth-placed South Africa's PCT is 47.62.
