The deadline for the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) have been extended till June 30, 2025. As per government directive, vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, have to change their number plates to the new HSRP ones.

The earlier deadline for installation of HSRPs was March 31, 2025

“The deadline has been extended as vehicle owners have been lukewarm about changing the number plates to HSRPs,” Dattatray Sangolkar Deputy RTO, Navi Mumbai, said.

Over 5,10,884 vehicles are registered with Vashi RTO. Of the total vehicles, applications for only 12,461 have received. However, so far only 6,420 vehicles have been installed with HSRPs.

“It is mandatory for vehicle owners to get the HSRPs installed, Sangolkar added.

The Supreme Court mandated HSRP for all vehicles, including those registered before April 1, 2019, to enhance road safety and curb vehicle-related crimes,

“We are creating awareness and appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the government by affixing the HSRPs within the given deadline,” Gajanan Gawande, assistant RTO, Navi Mumbai said.

The Transport Department has selected 3 organizations/manufacturers to install the HSRPs. As many as 27 fitment centers have been established within the Vashi RTO division.

If vehicle owners visit the HSRP fitment centre, no additional charges will be levied. However, if the owners opt for fitting HSRPs at their home, they will have to pay an additional fee to the respective vendor.

In case of bulk booking by 25 or more vehicle owners at a single location (society/parking lot/office, etc.), no additional home fitment fees will be levied.

Owners of vehicles purchased after April 1, 2019, do not need to install the plates.
