Immediate relief measures ordered by CM Shinde for Belapur building collapse victims

Navi Mumbai: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) Commissioner to provide immediate assistance to the victims of the building collapse in a ground floor G+4 storey building named Indira Niwas in Shahabaz Village, Sector 19, Belapur. The accident, which occurred on Saturday morning around 4.30 am, prompted an urgent response from the Chief Minister.

Despite being in Delhi for the NITI Aayog meeting, Chief Minister Shinde took time to discuss the situation with NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde over the phone. He was briefed on the details of the building disaster and emphasized the need for prompt action.

Following the collapse, the administration has already initiated rescue operations. The Chief Minister has also directed that emergency treatment, health facilities, food and water, clothing, temporary shelter, and all other necessary services be provided immediately to the victims.

This swift response aims to ensure that all affected individuals receive the support they need during this difficult time.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade was promptly deployed to the accident site and rescue operations were initiated. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, along with a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team, also were present at the site to aid in the rescue efforts.

The collapsed building housed three shops and 17 flats. A total of 37 adults and 13 children managed to safely evacuate the structure. The municipal authorities have arranged shelter and food for the displaced residents at the Municipal Shelter Centre. Unfortunately, one of the rescued persons lost his life in the incident.
