In a first, Umed’s women export drumsticks to Dubai

Shiv Swaraj Women Farmers Producer Company from Pandharpur taluka has exported Shevga (drumsticks) to Dubai under the joint initiative of Umed - Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission, APEDA, and Exim Farmer India Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The shipment was flagged off from Kopar Khairane’s cold storage by Umed CEO Nilesh Sagar.
“This initiative aims to help women farmers receive better value for their produce. Efforts will continue to facilitate agricultural exports, including improving cold storage infrastructure at the state and district levels,” said Nilesh Sagar
Pravin Wankhade, Exim Farmer India Chamber Chairman spoke about the importance of maintaining high-quality standards for international markets, citing demand for Indian agricultural produce.
Kaushalya Jadhav, Shiv Swaraj Chairperson, noted that the export price is significantly higher than local market rates and encouraged more women farmers to participate in similar opportunities.
Present at the event were Additional Director of Umed Parmeshwar Raut, APEDA Deputy GM Nagpal Lohkare, Under Secretary Dhanwant Mali, Deputy Director Manjiri Takle, Exim Farmer India Chamber Chairman Pravin Wankhade, and directors of ShivSwaraj Women Farmers Producer Company.
