Japanese delegation visits ongoing 'Smart City' projects in Kalyan-Dombivli

A high-level delegation from Japan, representing the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) under the Japan India Smart City Co-operation Platform (JISCOP), visited ongoing smart city projects in Kalyan Dombivli. The delegation, led by Ms. Kohigashi Kana, Director for International Negotiations at MLIT, and accompanied by Ms. Mizuki Osawa, Chief Officer at MLIT, and representatives from Nomura Research Institute Consulting and Solution India Pvt. Ltd., was given an in-depth tour of key developments under the Smart Kalyan Dombivli Development Corporation Ltd (SKDCL).

The delegation’s visit began with a meeting at the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation's (KDMC) administrative building, presided over by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar. During the meeting, officials from the Smart City department presented updates on the PAN City Information Technology (IT) Projects and Area-Based Development (ABD) projects. Key points raised by the Japanese representatives regarding the ongoing developments were discussed in detail, with input from Dr. Jakhar, CEO of SKDCL, and other municipal officials.

Following the discussions, the delegation toured several prominent sites, including the T-80 Fast Attack Ship Project, the "Citypark" at Gauripada, and the Durgadi riverfront, all developed as part of the Smart City initiative. After the inspection, the Japanese representatives expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of the ongoing projects.
