The Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Knowledge Centre in Kalyan East will be inaugurated on April 13 at 7:00 p.m. by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alongside Maharashtra Industries minister Uday Samant, and Sanjay Shirsath. The centre is a result of the efforts of MP Dr Shrikant Shinde.
Built on a 1397.91 sq m plot, the L-shaped building spans 539.91 sq m. A key feature is a grand 12-foot statue of Dr Ambedkar placed on an eight-foot-high pedestal in a decorated courtyard.
The centre will showcase Dr Ambedkar’s life, from childhood and education to his political career and contributions to social justice. Multimedia displays, including panels, backlit visuals, flipbook technology, and holography, will present key events, writings, and his role in drafting the Indian Constitution. A special film and 3D holography show will offer an immersive experience, including a lifelike message from Dr Ambedkar.
The facility also houses a library with 1200 books and e-books for public reading.
Positioned as a hub of learning and reflection, the centre aims to inspire future generations and stands as a symbol of Dr Ambedkar’s enduring legacy.
