Officials aim for fast-track completion
Kalyan: The ambitious Kalyan Ring Road project, spearheaded by Dr. Shrikant Shinde, Member of the Lok Sabha, is making significant progress. A recent meeting at the MMRDA headquarters, attended by MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Commissioner Dr. Indurani Jakhar, and other key officials, focused on expediting the project's completion.
The project, divided into eight phases, is advancing swiftly. Phases 4, 5, 6, and 7, which cover the stretches from Durgadi Bridge to Gandhare Bridge, Gandhari Bridge to Manda Junction, Manda Junction to Titwala Junction, and Titwala Junction to SH 35-40 Road Junction respectively, are 95% complete and now operational. Phase 3, spanning from Motha Gaon Bridge to Govindwadi Road, is currently underway and is expected to be completed by 2026. Additionally, land acquisition for Phases 1 and 2, from Hedutane to Shil Road and Shil Road to Motagaon Bridge, is in progress, with a targeted completion date of 2026.
With this project, the travel time from Katai to Titwala will be significantly reduced from one hour to just 15-20 minutes. Furthermore, heavy vehicular traffic will be diverted to the Ring Road, alleviating congestion within the city and improving intra-city traffic flow. Upon completion, the project will greatly enhance the convenience and efficiency of transport services in both urban and rural areas.
In addition to the Kalyan Ring Road, various other infrastructure projects are being implemented in the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency by MMRDA and MSRDC. These initiatives aim to transform the region’s transport system, easing commuting within the city and facilitating inter-city travel. The recent meeting also reviewed the progress of other significant projects, including Metro-12 and Metro-14, Kalyan Phata Flyover, Palawa Flyover, Mothagaon Railway Flyover, Waldhuni River Bridge, Vithalwadi Kalyan Elevated Road, and the Access Control Road.
These infrastructure projects are designed to meet the traffic requirements of the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency for the next decade, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero traffic congestion.
