Two arrested for killing mother and son; Motive linked to dispute over homosexual advances

The Kamothe police and crime branch have swiftly cracked the Kamothe double murder case, arresting two suspects within 24 hours. Geeta Jaggi (70) and her son, Jitendra Jaggi (45), were found dead in their Dreamland Apartments flat in Kamothe Sector-6. Investigations revealed that the accused, who were friends of the deceased Jitendra, killed him following an altercation over his alleged insistence on engaging in homosexual relations.

On Wednesday evening, neighbors reported a suspected gas leak from the Jaggi residence, prompting police and fire brigade intervention. Upon entering the flat, the police found Geeta strangled on one bed and Jitendra with severe head injuries on another. Autopsy reports confirmed that Jitendra was attacked with a hard object while Geeta was strangled.

CCTV footage identified two suspects, Shubham Mahendra Narayani (19) and Sanjyot Mangesh Dodke (19), seen leaving the building suspiciously around 7:15 a.m. on the day of the incident. Utilizing technical investigation, the police apprehended both accused in Kamothe on Thursday morning. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the murders.

The accused and Jitendra were reportedly close friends and often indulged in drinking sessions together. On December 31, during a New Year's party at Jitendra's house, an altercation arose when Jitendra allegedly tried to engage in sexual activity with the suspects and urged them to reciprocate. In a fit of rage, Shubham attacked Jitendra with an extension board, fatally injuring him.

Hearing Jitendra's screams, his mother Geeta intervened and witnessed the attack. Panicking, Sanjyot strangled her to prevent her from alerting others.

To cover up the murders, the accused caused a gas leak in the flat, intending to create the appearance of an accidental fire. However, timely action by the police and fire brigade averted a potential disaster. The flat was entered safely by cutting off its electricity supply.

The Kamothe police have charged the accused with murder and other relevant offenses.
