Residents of Kamothe are facing persistent drainage problems, with overflowing sewage chambers and stagnant wastewater creating unhygienic and hazardous living conditions. Complaints have been flooding in from multiple sectors, particularly Sector 6 near Shiv Temple and Sector 18, highlighting the ineffectiveness of local authorities in resolving this ongoing issue.
Nitesh, a resident of Sector 6, expressed his frustration: "Every year, the same drainage problem resurfaces. We request the authorities to provide a permanent solution to this recurring issue near Shiv Temple”.
A recent image from Sector 6 highlights the severity of the situation, showing a street covered in drainage water spilling from overflowing chambers. The green and blue garbage bins placed nearby are surrounded by pooled wastewater, creating an unsanitary environment. This has resulted in increased pest activity, further exacerbating the risk of waterborne diseases. Stagnant water on the roads is also causing major inconvenience to both pedestrians and motorists.
Meanwhile, residents of Sector 18 are equally distressed by the persistent drainage issues. Sewage water has reportedly been overflowing for the past 4-5 days at Plot Nos. 51 and 52. The chambers are completely full, causing backflow and flooding of nearby gutters. The stagnant, foul-smelling water has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, raising alarms about the potential spread of diseases like dengue and malaria.
Jagdish Jangid, a resident of Sector 18, Kamothe, stated, "The sewage water has been overflowing for days. The foul smell is unbearable, and mosquitoes are breeding everywhere. Immediate intervention is necessary."
Kalpana Vaswani, another resident, questioned, "As the drainage problem continues to disrupt our daily lives, the real concern is whether this year will finally see a permanent solution, or will we be forced to endure another cycle of neglect and inconvenience?"
