Amit Mishra stars with a hat-trick

A hat-trick by Mumbai based leg-break bowler Amit Mishra laid the foundation for Kandivali Cricket Association’s narrow 16-run first innings triumph against Navi Mumbai based Mazgaon Cricket Club in a Division ‘D’ league match of the Dr. H.D. Kanga League Cricket Tournament 2024-2025, played at the BMC ground, Dadar.

Amit six wicket haul for 16 runs saw Mazgaon CC being bowled out for just 79 run in 38 overs on a tricky wicket and in the process became the first bowler to register a hat-trick in the prestigious tournament.

In reply, Kandivali CA too found the going tough as Piyush Kanojia (5/10) and Dhruv Gothi (3/34) led the fight back with their probing line and length and were bowled out for 95 runs in 26 overs, by their young rivals which had reached the final of the 67th edition of Late Shamrao Thosar Shield 2023-24 early this year.

Mazgaon CC in their second essay lost half their side for 53 in 22.5 overs in the remaining duration of the match, largely due to the efforts of Atharva Ghosalkar who scored an unbeaten 30.  In the end it was a close contest between these outfits who were the top two table toppers in in Division E of the previous edition of the prestigious tournament, that saw  Kandivali CA win crucial points in the end.

Meanwhile, Prabhu Jolly Cricketers’ off-spinner Nishant Trivedi picked 8 wickets for 36 runs to restrict Vijay CC to 88 all out in 40 overs. But, his efforts went in vain as his team were bundled out for 69 runs in 27 overs and conceded the crucial lead to the rivals. Leg-spinner Lohit Suvarna (5/18) and Medium pacer Abhishek Pandey (3/22) bagged the wickets.
